RHEOLOGY LABORATORY

Chelab Rheology Laboratory, composed  by a highly-qualified and specialized staff and with years of experience in this field,  studies the physical-mechanical properties of food and non food products.
The laboratory, through the use of analytical instruments and methods, studies and evaluates complex and simple problems.

In foodstuffs, the expertises of this laboratory can determine the following aspects:

  • freshness of fruit and vegetables
  • preservation properties of foodstuffs
  • consistence properties of foodstuffs through texture analysis (compression, penetration, cutting, extrusion, tension, fracture, adhesiveness and TPA tests)
  • colour of foodstuffs
  • baking properties of flours and grain yield
  • viscosity characteristics of liquid foodstuffs (icings, oils, jams and so on)

In non food products, the laboratory evaluates:

  • absorbing properties of incontinence aids
  • physical-mechanical properties (thickness, brightness, breaking resistance and elasticity) of  plastic materials, paper and textile products
  • viscosity of oil, chemical products, cosmetics products
  • polymerization degree of textiles
  • detergent power of products for hard surfaces

Furthermore, the division is able to check the bactericidal and fungicidal activity in GPL (with all the references for the registration of Medical Devices) of chemical disinfectants and antiseptic products used in different sectors: in industries, at home, in hospital according or in conformity with many international methods such as:

  • UNI EN 1276:1997 - bactericidal activity with interfering substances
  • UNI EN 1650:2000 - fungicidal activity with interfering substances
  • EN 13704:2002 - sporicidal activity in suspension
  • UNI EN 13697:2001 - surface microbicidal activity
  • UNI EN 1500:1997 - bactericidal activity of hand disinfectants on volunteers

The laboratory has more than 10 Sinal accredited analyses, among which:

  • an internal method created to evaluate the efficacy of washing of detergents for hard surfaces, adopted by the Ecolabel committee, for the granting of the ecological quality mark-ECOLABEL
  • internal methods for the study of the texture in foodstuffs
  • internal methods and NOMENCLATOR tests for the evaluation of the absorbing properties of the incontinence aids

In the flour field, the laboratory continuously control the quality of the issued data and the efficiency of its staff thanks to its registration to ring test Bipea.
