WATERS LABORATORY

The waters laboratory  is specialized in chemical analyses on waters (drinking water and waste water),on stack emissions and air in working places.

This laboratory is able to offer a wide range of analysis of basic chemistry (chemical-physical parameters, titration and extraction of different kind) on aqueous matrices, including:

• colour, smell, temperature and turbidity
• pH and conductibility
• BOD5 and COD
• total hardness

The laboratory performs spectrophotometric analysis for the determination of:

• inorganic constituents: ammonium nitrogen, nitrous nitrogen, cyanide, chlorine, phosphor, dissolved oxygen, sulphites, sulphides
• organic constituents: aldehyde, organic nitrogen, anionic and non ionic surface-active agents, phenols

Chromatographic determination of fluoride, chloride, chlorate, bromate, bromide, nitrate, phosphate and sulphate.
The sample can be analysed instrumentally and through chemical titration, if is requested.

Gravimetric determinations are performed on suspended materials and on oil substances (animal and vegetable oils and fats, mineral oils).

The laboratory performs spectrophotometric and chromatographic analyses on other matrices deriving from environmental samplings, such as:

• air filters
• acidified and basified condensates
• silica gel vials

Before proceeding with the instrumental determination, the substances, trapped in the filters or in the vials, are appropriately extracted and the condensates are correctly acidified for the analysis.

The principal methods are official (Italian law) or in accordance with international standards (APAT-IRSA-CNR, APHA, UNICHIM, ASTM, USEPA, UNI-EN) and are SINAL accredited.

• 1 TOC equipped with autosampler and TKN detector
• 1 spectrophotometer UV-Vis
• 1 colorimeter Random Access with autosampler
• 1 automatic titrator
• 1 mineralizer
• 2 Rotavapor
• ph-meters and conductometers equipped with autosamplers
