ANALYSIS ON COSMETICS

Test of cosmetics products

- Efficacy test
- Security test
- Consumer test
- Microbiological test
- Chemical test
- Rheological test
- Accelerated aging test

Efficacy test

  • In vivo evaluation of the efficacy of cosmetic products destined to fight the skin inestetims, by the use of Derma Top Blue
  • Evaluation of hydrating efficacy (short–term until 24 h
  • Evaluation of  reservoir effect
  • Evaluation of  trans – epidermal water loss
  • Evaluation of  semum normalizing effect
  • Verification of  resistance to flaking  caused by the movement of lips, and of transfer of color when lips come into  contact with another surface (for example clothes, napkins, cups, glasses, and so on) or oily food on lipsticks, lipgloss and lip liner.  Performance of the analysis of “Transfer Resistant Cosmetic Composition flexibility” and “dry and oil blot test
  • Evaluation of water resistance, by the using of scanning electron microscope (S.E.M.) on mascaras
  • Evaluation of water resistance,  by  a modified Martindale instrument on eye liner
  • Evaluation of the quality of the hair dyes, shampoos for dyed hairs
  • Evaluation of the colour of the cosmetics after the exposure to the artificial light

Security test

  • Patch-test
  • Ophthalmology test
  • In vitro skin irritation test
  • In vitro ocular irritation test

Consumer Test

The availability of an archives of hign number of volunteers and people specialized on execution of market research allows the realization of studies aimed to evaluate  how the consumers consider the product from the point of the view of:

  • efficacy
  • easiness of  use
  • pleasantness

both for a single product and in comparison with another product

Microbiologica test

The section executes tests of the efficacy of preserving system by:

  • Challenge Test: internal method
  • Challenge Test:  Afnor  method
  • Linear Regression

Furthermore, our laboratory, performs the determination of the following micro organisms, by using the official norms here indicated:

  • Total viable aerobic count (ISO 21149:2009)
  • Mycetes (ISO DIS 16212:2007)
  • Staphylococcus Aureus (ISO 22718:2006)
  • Pseudomonas Aeruginosa (ISO 22717:2006)
  • Candida Albicans (ISO DIS 18416:2005)
  • Escherichia Coli (ISO 21150:2006)
  • Determination of specific and not specific microorgnisms (ISO 18415:2007)
  • Enterobacteria-qualitative and/or quantitative determination (internal method)

Chemical test

  • Determination of preservatives ( sorbic and benzoate acid, thiazolinone, parabens, salicylic acid,…)
  • Determination of heavy metals by ICP/MS
  • Determination of  flavouring allergenic substances by GC/MS
  • Determination of synthetic musks by  GC/MS
  • Determination of panthenol by  HPLC
  • Determination of EDTA (ethylendiaminetetraacetic acid) by  HPLC
  • Determination of dyes  by HPLC or by TLC
  • Quantitative determination of phthalates by GC/MS
  • Determination of NDELA (nitrosodiethanolamine)  by LC/MS/MS
  • Determination of IMU (imidazolidinylurea) by LC/MS

Chelab also performs the determination of :
