Non Food
MATERIALS IN CONTACT WITH FOODSTUFFS
Silicones
The silicones destined to contact with foodstuffs must satisfy the general requirements established by EC Regulation 1935/2004 and by the national regulation D.P.R. 777 of 23.08.1982 and following modifications. Substantially, they must be produced in good manufacturing practice so that they do not transfer substances in such quantities to:
- Make toxic the foodstuffs
- Imply a deterioration of their organoleptic characteristics
Currently the regulation is not harmonized, as according to the MD 21/03/73 and following modifications to silicones materials are applied the same requirements of the plastic materials; however, in Europe they do not follow a specific regulation.
As the plastic materials, Chelab laboratory is able to supply a wide range of services that include overall migrations, specific migrations and residual quantities, microbiological tests, analysis of research GC/MS and heavy metals.
