ANALYSIS ON HYGIENIC PRODUCTS WITH ABSORBING ProPERTY
Baby napkins, incontinence aids for adults, sanitary towels for women and panty-liners mainly have to guarantee the absorption capacity and the comfort.
Chelab is able to evaluate the absorption capacity of a product by performing tests such as the absorption speed, the radial spread of the absorbed liquid, the rewetting (release of the absorbed liquid)and the total absorption. The absorption is strictly connected to the characteristics of the super-absorbing polymers contained in this type of products which can be evaluated by using an images analyser. The distribution of the polymers along the napkin or the sanitary towel can be verified by using a solution of Bromocresol Green in which the product is soaked.
Further to the above mentioned performance tests we can suggest other tests which can be performed on these products.
Specifically for baby napkins we can propose the lateral leakage of liquid, the adherence of the closing stickers by using a dynamometer, the resistance of the warm-up elastic bands and the regularity of the distribution of the glue which fixes the elastic bands, by using an UV lamp.
With reference to incontinence aids for adults it is possible to evaluate the absorption capacity by immersion, the absorption speed and the quantity of released liquid.
The performance tests performed on incontinence aids are Sinal accredited.
Finally, on sanitary towels and panty-liners, it is possible to evaluate the masking ( capacity to mask the colour of the absorbed liquid), the behaviour of the adhesive (necessary force to detach the adhesive, the aspect of the textile after the detachment and the presence of adhesive residues on the textile).
Furthermore, on baby napkins, sanitary towels for woman and panty-liners it is possible to perform a test to verify the resistance of the adhesive.
